December 4, 2013
Good
afternoon.
I
know that this is coming out a little early this week. I have a conference to attend tomorrow and
Friday and did not want to run the risk of forgetting to post this before the
week expired. Since the meetings are in
Clayton, I’ll be in tomorrow morning and Friday morning for traffic, then take
off.
I
will also be gone from work/school on Monday of next week, so Katie R. will be
filling in for me outside that morning.
Some folks refer to her as one of the “smiling girls” – not sure how
much smiling will take place with the expected weather conditions early on
Monday.

LMSPA/Gift & Project
The following is from the LMSPA Co-Presidents: Jodi Blucher and
Jodi Minkler.
WHAT IS GIFT & PROJECT?
If you are new to LMS or if you have ever asked yourself that
question, the info below will help to answer that: Gift and Project (lovingly called G & P)
Fundraiser is the LMSPA's biggest fundraiser. It takes place 2 times per
year: Winter (around the holidays) and Spring (near the end of the school
year). Through this fundraiser families
donate to the LMSPA in honor of our wonderful Ladue Middle School Faculty and
Staff. As a family you decide whom you wish to honor with your donation.
Each staff member then receives a letter informing them of who has
honored them by donating to the LMSPA (donation amounts are not disclosed).
The money raised then goes to gifts and projects that the LMSPA
funds for our school community each year. In a couple of days you
will be receiving a letter describing some of the many things that the Gift
& Project Fundraiser has helped to do for our school. We hope you will
consider honoring your teachers and others with a donation.

Winter
Weather information
A revised version of the Winter Weather flyer has been produced
by the Communications Office and posted to PeachJar recently. Scott Lackey will also post this information
on the LMS website.
The only difference is in the paragraph regarding BASK/TAS.
It specifically states that students have to already be enrolled in BASK
to use it on Late Start days and clarifies that it is only available at the K-4
elementary schools (not the Fifth Grade Center.)

Eagle Scout Project
One
of our 8th graders, Harrison Wright, is organizing a donation drive
for gently used clothing, books and toys as his Eagle Scout Project. This drive will benefit the St. Louis Crisis
Nursery, which is committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and
provides emergency intervention, respite care and support to families in
crisis. The drive is scheduled to take
place on the LMS parking lot on January 12, from noon to 4 pm. For more information, please contact Harrison

Spring Musical Auditions
Auditions for the Spring Musical, Wanda's World, will be
held after school on Tuesday, December 17th from 3:10 to 5 pm. Packets with all audition materials can be
picked up from Ms. Gastman or Mrs. Scheidt starting Monday, November 25. Other
resource materials will be available on their websites.
Students who need to ride the late bus will need to audition
before 4:10; other students will need to plan for a ride.
If students cannot make the audition date, they will need to set
up a different audition time before December 17th, as no late auditions will be
held.
For more information, call or email Mrs. Scheidt (ext. 5935).
It appears that winter arrives in force
tomorrow. Stay warm and drive safely if
we get the precipitation that is anticipated.
Have a good remainder of the
week and weekend.
