May 29, 2015

Good afternoon and Happy Friday.   First of all, thank you to everyone for helping make 2014-2015 a pretty successful school year.   The accomplishments of our students and staff are too numerous to list.   Two school-wide recognitions that I am particularly proud of include LMS being named a 2014 National School Of Character and (as you will see below) our being designated as a 2015 Missouri Gold Star School.   Such recognitions result from the ongoing efforts and dedication of our current and past students, staff, and parents. As I alluded to in previous emails, our LMS staff will experience some significant turnover for the coming year.   Now that Board approvals have been completed for the most part, I can communicate the following regarding staff departures and changes: ·       FACS – Debra Beckrich.   Amy Bullman (grade 8 Math) will be moving to FACS for 2015-2016.   The second opening in FACS will be filled by Shaina Fall, who comes to us from Rockwood. ·

LMS Support Opportunity

(The following has just been sent out through a Blackboard Connect email to 2014-2015 grade 7 parents.  Should your child need some support, regardless of grade level, or wish to participate, they are welcome to join us.) May 27, 2015 Good morning: Discussions began last Friday, following my parent email regarding the passing of our grade 7 student, Joseph Goldman, on how to support his grade level classmates that may be in need. Through collaboration with Special School District Area Coordinator Melisa Bohannon, LMS/SSD Teacher Andy Nieters, and LMS Counselor Roger Scherck, we wish to provide Joseph’s classmates the opportunity to meet at LMS on Thursday, May 28, in the LMS Library from 1:30 to 3 pm. This will be an opportunity for any student who wishes to work through Joseph’s loss with building/district and/or SSD staff.   It will also be an opportunity for any student in the grade level, if they wish, to help us begin compiling a memory book to provide to

LMS Parents: I have some very sad news to share with you, wanting to go through you first in order to consider how best to inform your children. At the request of Louis and Rebecca Goldman, I need to let you know that their son Joseph (Grade 7, Olympian Team and former Spoede student) passed away at home today at approximately 11 am. According to the Goldmans, arrangements are as follows: Tuesday, May 26 B’Nai Amoona; 324 South Mason Road (63141) Visitation will be at 10 am, followed by a Service at 10:30 am. Internment will be at Chessed Shel Emeth Cemetary. The family will sit Shiva next week at their home, 9558 Indian Meadows Drive, 63132.   Condolences may be sent to the Goldman family at that address. I will always remember Joseph’s infectious/mischievous smile, his sense of humor, and his courage.   Please keep the Goldman family in your thoughts.   Greg

LMS Farewell Assembly (Part 2)

Good morning 8 th Grade Parents: I failed to add three additional items regarding parking for today’s Grade 8 Farewell Assembly – First, please do not park in the bank parking lot, across Conway Road from our campus.   These spaces are reserved for customers of the bank and other businesses in that building.   Last year, Ladue PD was called and we had to make an announcement for a number of parents to move their cars during the program. Second, handicapped accessibility is available in our building through our main entrance.   We have an elevator in our Welcome Center Lobby that will take anyone needing this assistance to the next floor up (2R), which is on the same level as our Gym. Lastly, if you find space to park next to any curbing, be aware that there are “cutouts” in our sidewalks, painted blue, for handicapped accessibility.   Please do not block these areas. That should be it.   I hope everything goes as planned today and that everyone has a great day.
