National Blue Ribbon recognition

Good morning. I am VERY PLEASED to be able to announce that Ladue Middle School has been named a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School by US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan this morning.   LMS is one of 10 Missouri schools to achieve this recognition. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students either achieve very high learning standards or are making notable improvements in closing the achievement gap.   All recognized schools will be honored at a recognition ceremony on November 9 and 10 in Washington, D.C. This great honor, coming on the heels of our recognition as a 2014 National School of Character, is a testament to our teachers, support staff, students and parents.   Thank you, so much, for helping to make LMS a great place to learn and work. Congratulations to you all, Greg

September 25, 2015

Good afternoon.   I hope the week has gone well for you. I was struck today by yet another indication that I am old and that the world is changing faster than I can keep up.   During a weekly meeting with LMS administrators and counselors, the question arose regarding Apple watches being worn to school by students.   I must confess that I had to ask Assistant Principal Scott Lackey, who formerly served as our building’s Technology Coordinator, what an Apple watch was.   My understanding now is that this device not only serves as a watch, but also has Internet/email/text capabilities.   At this time (allowing us some more thought and discussion) we have determined that these can be worn to school but should not be used for any other reason than to tell time (other uses will be based on teacher discretion), as per our practices with cell phone and other personal technology devices.   Should issues arise in the future that would cause us to re-think our position, I will let you k

Thursday 9/24 and Friday 9/25 mornings

Good morning. If you bring your student to LMS by car in the mornings, I wanted to give you all a brief heads up regarding Thursday and Friday. As previously communicated, I do not have the Lobby and front doors “officially” covered by a staff member until around 7:15 am to let students in and provide supervision.   Since I am typically an early-arriver, I cover these duties until the staff member clocks in. I will not be able to do this Thursday and Friday mornings, as I have other commitments.   In case you bring your child to school before 7:15 am, or they walk and arrive early, I wanted you to be aware. Thanks, Greg

Picture Packets

Good morning. Picture packets from August 26 are here.  These will be distributed through Core Teams on Wednesday, September 23 and should be coming home to you that afternoon. Also included are complimentary student ID cards provided by Wagner Portrait Group.  These have  NO  function in school, but  MIGHT POSSIBLY  be used as an ID for student discount purposes at local businesses (at their discretion).   As a reminder, Picture Re-Take Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 15.  This is for: Students who were absent from school on August 26.  Although those students and their parents may opt not to order a picture packet, we would like to have everyone in this group have their photos taken on October 15 to update our student database system. Students who had their pictures take on August 26, but have problems with their original photographs.  Wagner asks that students in this category return their original packets on October 15 to have their photos re-taken. Fundraiser Correction

Correction: All LMSPA fundraiser forms can be turned in to the Welcome Center Office from this point forward. I failed to delete the Late Turn In Day (all lunches) for September 24 from the Calendar Items section of the Update. Sorry for any confusion. Greg
