MAP testing information/update

Good morning.
As we approach the beginning of MAP testing next week, I wanted you to be aware of some procedural items that we will be announcing to students.
Cell Phones/Communication Devices
There are very strict guidelines that we must follow in regard to student cell phones and other electronic devices that can connect to the internet (i.e. Apple watches, etc).  Such devices CANNOT be in a student's possession, or in their book bag, purse or binder, during testing sessions.  Teachers and other staff members who are serving as testing proctors have been instructed to collect all such devices prior to the beginning of each testing session.  Once the testing session is concluded, these devices will be returned to students.  Because of this, I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST that students place their cell phones/devices in their secured locker prior to going to their testing session.  This will save time and reduce any possible issues that may result in an exam being invalidated.
Headphones and Earbuds
A portion of each English/Language Arts exam will include a section in which students will need to listen to an audio selection by use of headphones or earbuds.  Students are encouraged to bring their personal headphones or earbuds to school on these days.  Should this not be possible, we will have a supply on hand.
Testing Schedule
Our current schedule is listed below.  We are working to make some minor adjustments to this to ensure that we have met suggested time requirements.  If any of this is revised, I will share it with you as soon as possible.
Grade 6: 
Monday, 4/11 - English/Language Arts: 11:12 - 1:31 (periods 4, 5, 6)
Tuesday, 4/12 - Math: 11:12 - 1:31 (periods 4, 5, 6)
Grade 7:
Wednesday, 4/13 - English/Language Arts: 8:15 - 11:26 (periods 1, 2, 3, 4)
Thursday, 4/14 - Math: 8:15 - 11:26 (periods 1, 2, 3, 4)
Grade 8:
Monday, 4/18 - Science: 9:06 - 12:14 (periods 2, 3, 4, 5)
Tuesday, 4/19 - Math: 9:54 - 12:14 (periods 3, 4, 5)
Wednesday, 4/20 - English/Language Arts: 9:54 - 12:14 (periods 3, 4, 5)
Friday, 4/22 - English/Language Arts: 9:06 - 10:38 (periods 2, 3)
Make up exams:
Monday, 4/25 through Friday, 4/29
If possible, we ask that any "non-critical" appointments be scheduled around these testing times for your child.

Good afternoon.  I hope that your week has gone well. CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS Thank you and congratulations to Aaron Lehde, Betsy Cytron, Michael Faris, Scott Harris, Katie Solomon and members of the LMS 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Bands for their truly wonderful performances this past Wednesday evening to a packed house at the LHWHS Performing Arts Center.  It was a truly wonderful way to end the day.  The kids (and teachers) did a fantastic job.   Administrative Professionals Day was this past Wednesday.  I cannot adequately express how valuable our office staff members are to us.  They are: Nancy Edwards, Principal’s Secretary Peggy Breidenbach, Registrar Carol Stephens, Guidance Secretary Danna Anderson, Receptionist Mary LoBosco, Assistant Principals’ Secretary Ann Mohrmann, Library Aide Kelly Shevitz, Clinic Aide Thank you, as well, to the LMSPA which allowed me to take them to lunch on their day. TJs Tidbits Greetings LMS Families, Last week was focused in many ways on Character Education. On Monday, Dr. Jahnke joined us after school during our Faculty Meeting and surprised us with cake to celebrate our State School of Character Recognition. We had our State School of Character Banner presented to us by Character Plus representative, Nicole Diehl, on Tuesday in a lovely ceremony that included district and LMS admin, counselors, Character Ed Committee reps, student leaders and members of the LMSPA. At the end of of the ceremony, student volunteers shared what Character Ed. means to them and what they love most about LMS. They wowed us all with their comments and spoke so eloquently sharing strengths and growth areas. One student summed it up perfectly, saying something along the lines of "We are not perfect, as there is no way we could be, but we certainly work hard and continue to get better and better each day…” Our National School of C
