Good afternoon. I hope that this week has gone well for you.
If you child walks to the business district on Clayton Road after dismissal on Fridays (particularly on early release days) please remind them that they not only represent their family but also LMS. A few students have caused problems and disturbances in the past. They were a very small percentage of our student body, but unfortunately represented us poorly within the community. I am very thankful that the large majority of our students act in a manner that makes me proud. We will do our best to reinforce our expectations with all of them. If you could do the same at home, it would be greatly appreciated.
CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU’s
Congratulations to Jason Theodosiou, Physical Education/Health, who has been selected by the LMS administration and Dr. Jennifer Allen (Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction) to be the LMS recipient of the 2016 Excellence in Education recognition. Mr. Theodosiou will be recognized at the September 26 Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m.
Congratulations to the following LMS students who participated in the University City Public Library summer reading program as readers and/or volunteers: Anna Cochran, Kendall Connors, Rhea Patney, Sarah Pernik, Katie Silver, and Natasha Theusch.

NEW ITEMS
Missing Assignment Notifier
Beginning today, at around 4 p.m., parents will begin receiving weekly electronic notices if any of their child’s assignments are marked as “missing” in Infinite Campus teacher gradebooks.
8th Grade Sports
8th graders signed up to participate in cross country or volleyball at lunch this week. If students missed the sign ups, they can still participate by showing up to the first practice - September 6 for cross country and September 8 for volleyball. Students must turn in forms by the first practice in order to participate, which includes a physical dated after February 1, 2016. LMS Dad’s Club Meeting
The LMS Dad’s Club will have its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 7 at 7 p.m. in the LMS Library. The purpose of the meeting is to meet existing and new members and to discuss the upcoming activities contemplated for the 2016-17 school year. LMS Fundraiser for 2016-17
This year’s LMS Fundraiser will offer two items: Mixed Bags and Cookie Dough. Students will be provided with information to take home on Friday, September 9. The fundraiser will extend through Monday, September 26. Orders will be ready for pickup during our Fall Parent Conferences on Wednesday, October 26 and Thursday, October 27. More information to follow.

REPEATED ITEMS
After School Activities
After School Activities begin Tuesday, August 30. Information on activities can be found on the LMS website, including quarter(s), day of the week, activity description, staff sponsor and location. Sessions go from 3:15 to 4:15 pm.
For those students eligible for daily bus service, we will have five activity buses each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon to transport students home. Buses should leave LMS at approximately 4:35 pm. For those students being picked up by car, please try to have rides at LMS no later than 4:30 pm, since staff must stay until all students are picked up.
Picture Day
LMS Picture Day is scheduled for Tuesday, September 6. Packets should have come home with students last Friday. Even if you decide not to purchase a picture package, we ask that all students have their pictures taken so that we may update our student database system.
Early Dismissals
We understand that unanticipated events may result in your child being picked up from school prior to our 3:10 pm dismissal time. For those planned instances, please call our main office at 993-3900 that morning, email Danna Anderson at danderson@ladueschools.net or send a note to school with your son or daughter. Please also remember that if you park in our Circle Drive, buses begin arriving and parking there at about 2:45 pm. We don’t want you to get blocked in.
Bus Passes
This form, available on our LMS website, is required at those times when your child must ride a bus not covering their usual route. In order for your request to be considered, this form must be completed and returned to Danna Anderson in the LMS Office 24 hours prior to the requested date. Please note that bus passes may not be available on all routes, if there is concern about having available space.
Fall Parent Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences for semester 1 are Wednesday, October 26, 2016 (4:00 - 8:00 p.m.) and Thursday, October 27, 2016 (1:00 - 7:00 p.m.). To sign up, please visit the following website:

Prior to signing up, please carefully review the instructions that are provided on the first page of the website. The online scheduler went live at 4:00 pm on Friday, August 12. Slots fill up very quickly, so please sign up ASAP.
