Information
went home this past week with students (please check if you haven’t seen it
yet) regarding what to pack for camp as well as the three choice activities
that your child will be participating in.
You can also check our school website for a recommended packing list,
brochures, location, etc. Your student
was also given a colored ribbon that will act as your child’s luggage tag. Please attach it to your child’s luggage, so
your child’s belongings are sent to the correct cabin. If the luggage ribbon gets lost, extra
ribbons will be available when your child gets to school the morning of camp.
Laduette Dance Clinic (new)
The
nationally ranked LHWHS Laduette dance team will hold their third annual dance
clinic on Saturday, October 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the LHWHS main
Gym. This will be open to students in
Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
A special dance presentation for parents will be held at 1:00 p.m.
National hip
hop finalists in 2011, 2012 and 2013, the Laduettes placed first at the UDA
Dance Camp, earning a bid to Nationals for the fifth year in a row.
Registration
forms can be obtained in the LMS Office.
Completed forms with payment can be returned to LMS through Friday,
October 4. Cost for the clinic is $45,
which includes lunch, a t-shirt and a photo with frame of your child. Checks may be made out to Laduette Dance

National Junior Honor Society (new)
In January,
a packet will be mailed to 7th and 8th Grade students
with a cumulative grade point average of 3.8 or above, six or more O’s, and no
I’s or U’s (Citizenship Grades) for the first semester.
Students who
are eligible for selection must:
·
Have
a minimum of 15 hours of community service.
·
Complete
the Candidate Form, including sections on School Activities, Community
Activities, Community Service and Honors/Awards. Documentation should include contact names,
email and or phone numbers.
·
Not
have been assigned to BIC or have had an out of school suspension during the
current school year.
If all of
the above requirements are met by the deadline stated on the Candidate Form,
the application will be reviewed by the selection committee. The completion of the form does not
automatically guarantee admittance into the National Junior Honor Society.
It is never
too early to start those community service hours! Get started now, so you are not rushed to get
them finished after packets have been distributed. Suggestions of places to earn community
service hours are listed on the NJHS webpage, located under “Activities” on the
LMS website.
If you have
any questions regarding the process, please contact Laila Crabtree or Laurie
Lambie.
7th Grade Party (new)
7th
graders are encouraged to join in the fun of music, food, optional costume
contest with prizes and more on Tuesday, October 29 from 3:10 to 4:10pm in the
LMS cafeteria and gym. Late buses will
be available for transportation. Wrist bands may be purchased for only $3
during lunch on October 23, 24, 28 and 29. NOTE: Parents are needed to
volunteer to sell tickets at lunch on ticket sale days. If you can help,
please contact Jackie King at j.king@charter.net. Parents are also needed to help set
up/chaperone the party and assist with quick clean up. Please contact
Marjie Chuchola at marjiemarie@charter.net if you are able to lend a hand at the
party!
Halloween (new)
Students may wear Halloween costumes to
school on Thursday, October 31. We ask
that costumes be appropriate for school, not include items that resemble
weapons, and that students not wear masks/items that cover their faces.
LMS Dad’s Club Meeting (repeat)
The LMS Dad’s Club
will hold its first meeting on Monday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the LMS
Library to cover the following:
·
Meet existing and
welcome new members.
·
Provide a brief
overview of who we are and what we do.
·
Discuss details for
the annual Family Bowling Day event.
·
Discuss interest in
other possible social events and activities.
In addition, Rob
Garrett (Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Ladue High School and Physical
Education teacher at the Fifth Grade Center) will attend the meeting to discuss
exploratory initiatives in establishing a Junior Rams baseball program for
students attending LMS or the Fifth Grade Center. If you have a student at either building that
is interested in playing baseball, this is a terrific opportunity to learn more
about this initiative and provide valuable input and feedback. If you are unable to attend the meeting, we
would welcome your input by completing a short survey created by the LMS Dad’s
Club that is accessible at the following link, http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/P7V9MS9,
or by visiting the Dad’s Club page on the LMS website. Participation in the survey will be available
until October 14, at which point the results will be tabulated and presented at
a follow up meeting tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 21, at 7:00 p.m.
in the LMS Library. For questions or
additional information, please contact LMS President Joe Mulligan at joemulligan910@gmail.com or at
314-503-4384.
