October 12, 2014

Good morning.  I hope your weekend is going well.

CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS

For those of you who picked up students by car last Friday, thanks for your patience in getting up to the front of the building from the back lot.  The rain helped delay us in getting buses out.  We attempted to hold bus riders in the Lobby and Library until we confirmed that each bus had arrived.  It obviously took more time than normal.

Fall is here, and it is about to get cold outside.  We will be conducting a winter clothing drive to benefit students in the Riverview Gardens School District.  Please bring new or gently used winter clothing items to the Ladue Middle School cafeteria starting October 13 through October 23.  Clothing items are needed for students in pre-k through grade 12, and include coats, hats, gloves, socks, and scarves.  Monetary donations are also accepted.  Checks can be made out to Ladue Middle School and dropped off in the front office.  Any donation is appreciated!

The following information will be shared with your students regarding upcoming Red Ribbon Week activities.

CURE Meeting
The CURE parent group is a networking opportunity for parents/guardians of African American students. Meetings, facilitated by Superintendent Dr. Donna Jahnke, involve the exchange of information and ideas. CURE will meet on Thursday, October 16, 2014 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Administrative Center. More information about CURE can be found on the district’s website under “Parent Information” and “Organizations.”

Rams Club
Thanks to a grant from the LMSPA, the LMS Rams Club will start in a few weeks. The Rams Club offers an opportunity for 8th grade students who would like to stay after school and watch 8th grade home sports games/meets to do so in a supervised environment. On game days, students will spend the time in between when school ends and games start with an 8th grade teacher, doing homework and getting a free snack. Teachers will then escort them to the game. Games begin between 3:45-4:15 depending on the day. Students and parents must fill out a permission form in order to sign up and parents are responsible for transportation immediately following the game. Permission forms are available in the office and on the 8th grade sports webpage. All information about dates and times for the club are listed on the form. Spots are limited and are available on a first-come, first served basis. Students who want to watch games must be supervised and may not leave campus and return, so the Rams Club is a great opportunity for students who want to have school spirit!
