LMS Ski Trip February 20

Good morning.

This message is intended for parents of those LMS students scheduled to participate in our Hidden Valley Ski Trip this afternoon/evening.

Weather forecasts call for precipitation coming into our area today, into this evening.  This “wintry mix” could include freezing rain, but anticipated arrival times vary based upon which outlet you access (local media says it may arrive this afternoon, while our school’s Weather Bug system has it arriving later this evening around 8 pm).

We will monitor forecasts during the morning, consult with personnel at Hidden Valley, and make contact with our chartered bus company.  If a decision is made to cancel today’s Hidden Valley trip, a follow up Blackboard Connect and Blog message will be sent out before 11 am today.  If your child has signed up for this evening’s trip, please monitor your email periodically this morning.

If the trip should be cancelled, 1) we do have a scheduled make up date on February 27, and 2) any equipment already at school today that cannot be taken home this evening will be secured in our office area over the weekend.

If at all possible, we will hold our trip to Hidden Valley this evening, but our overall concern is the safety of our students and staff/chaperones, particularly as they travel to home or back to school this evening.

Good afternoon.  I hope that your week has gone well. CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS Thank you and congratulations to Aaron Lehde, Betsy Cytron, Michael Faris, Scott Harris, Katie Solomon and members of the LMS 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Bands for their truly wonderful performances this past Wednesday evening to a packed house at the LHWHS Performing Arts Center.  It was a truly wonderful way to end the day.  The kids (and teachers) did a fantastic job.   Administrative Professionals Day was this past Wednesday.  I cannot adequately express how valuable our office staff members are to us.  They are: Nancy Edwards, Principal’s Secretary Peggy Breidenbach, Registrar Carol Stephens, Guidance Secretary Danna Anderson, Receptionist Mary LoBosco, Assistant Principals’ Secretary Ann Mohrmann, Library Aide Kelly Shevitz, Clinic Aide Thank you, as well, to the LMSPA which allowed me to take them to lunch on their day. TJs Tidbits Greetings LMS Families, Last week was focused in many ways on Character Education. On Monday, Dr. Jahnke joined us after school during our Faculty Meeting and surprised us with cake to celebrate our State School of Character Recognition. We had our State School of Character Banner presented to us by Character Plus representative, Nicole Diehl, on Tuesday in a lovely ceremony that included district and LMS admin, counselors, Character Ed Committee reps, student leaders and members of the LMSPA. At the end of of the ceremony, student volunteers shared what Character Ed. means to them and what they love most about LMS. They wowed us all with their comments and spoke so eloquently sharing strengths and growth areas. One student summed it up perfectly, saying something along the lines of "We are not perfect, as there is no way we could be, but we certainly work hard and continue to get better and better each day…” Our National School of C
