NEW ITEMS

School Pictures Are In
School Picture packets were delivered this week.  They have been sorted by grade level and team.  I have asked team teachers to distribute these to go home on Monday afternoon (9/22).  Wagner Photo has also included complimentary picture cards for students.  Please be aware that these photo cards have no official use within our building.  They may possibly be used at local businesses that offer student discounts.
If your child was absent on the August 27 Picture Day, we will have a Re-Take Day on October 8.  Although you may not wish to order a picture packet, we do like all students to have their pictures updated for Infinite Campus.  If you ordered a picture packet from September 22, and there is something significantly wrong with the result, please have your child return their complete packet to the photographers for a re-take on October 8.

Basketball Parent Meeting
Junior Rams Basketball (not to be confused with the LMS 8th grade Basketball program) will hold a meeting for parents of students currently in grades 5 through 8 on Monday, September 22 at 6 pm at LMS.  Please contact Chad Anderson at canderson@ladueschools.net or Cord Dockery at cdockery@ladueschools.net with questions.

Community Service Project
Jack Kahn, LMS 7th Grade student, is teaming up with Ready Readers to help St. Louis preschool-age children have their own books and could use your help.  He has placed a bin in front of the LMS Office to collect donated books you may have to provide through Friday, September 26.
·      Books should be for children age 5 and under.
·      Books should be new, like new or very gently used.
·      Books should be able to be read aloud (please, no chapter books, textbooks, activity books, workbooks, sticker books or coloring books).
·      Ready Readers is a non-sectarian organization, so they do not use books about religious holidays or books with religious themes.
Ready Readers is a non-profit organization that trains and mentors volunteers who read weekly to preschool-age children from low-income communities, and give children new books to help inspire them to want to learn to read.  They also give new and gently used books to the children’s schools and teachers.  For more information about reading to children, and giving, please visit www.readyreaders.org

Costa Rica Trip reminder
The deadline to sign up for the 8th grade Spring Break Costa Rica trip is October 1. If you need information or directions on how to sign up, please email Sarah Schwartz at saschwartz@ladueschools.net

Rams Club
Thanks to a grant from the LMSPA, the LMS Rams Club will start in a few weeks. The Rams Club offers an opportunity for 8th grade students who would like to stay after school and watch 8th grade home sports games/meets to do so in a supervised environment. On game days, students will spend the time in between when school ends and games start with an 8th grade teacher, doing homework and getting a free snack. Teachers will then escort them to the game. Games begin between 3:45-4:15 depending on the day. Students and parents must fill out a permission form in order to sign up and parents are responsible for transportation immediately following the game. Permission forms are available in the office and on the 8th grade sports webpage. All information about dates and times for the club are listed on the form. Spots are limited and are available on a first-come, first served basis. Students who want to watch games must be supervised and may not leave campus and return, so the Rams Club is a great opportunity for students who want to have school spirit!
