NEW ITEMS

Documentary Screening
    The Diversity Cadre is sponsoring a screening of the documentary "Gentlemen of Vision" on Tuesday, November 15, from 2:25-4:10 in the LMS cafeteria.  The film is offered as part of the St. Louis International Film Festival and follows the local competitive step team that came to our school last year as part of our I Am LMS Day.  The documentary shows them strive to win their national competitions, graduate from high school, and position themselves to achieve success in life. The screening will be followed by a group discussion.
    Students will need a permission slip to stay for this event, and participation is limited to the first 60 students who turn in their permission slip.  Permission slips are available in room 232 or from your student's social studies teacher.  Students will miss part of 8th hour and, because the event ends by 4:10, will be able to take the late bus home.  Students should feel free to bring a snack, and parents are welcome to come as well!

LMS Ski club notice for parents
    Just a last minute reminder about our LMS ski club.  As you have probably heard, each morning this week we have had teachers in the front lobby before school collecting waiver forms, ski shirt orders and bus money.  This Monday morning (before school) is our last.  IF we have some additional room on our ski buses after Monday, there could be a few spots available after Monday.  The only way to be guaranteed a spot is for you to take care of the registration this weekend and have your child turn in the waiver and check for the bus on Monday.  So far we have 427 students who are a part of our club.

Dear Parents of Girls in Grade 6:  BE bold, BE strong, BE healthy...be YOU! Finally a program that prepares your daughter to BE all these things alongside you! @girlsintheknow1 is coming to Ladue Middle School!  Girls in the Know believes knowledge is power and that every girl deserves a strong foundation and strong sense of self heading into the challenging teen years. They provide an educational speaker series led by licensed female professionals delivered to pre-teen girls and the ones who love them! Team LADUE takes on the Harlem Wizards on Sunday, November 6; 2 pm; at the  LHWHS Main Gym
    Come out and see your favorite Ladue School District teachers and staff take on the Harlem Wizards for a fun afternoon of interactive sports entertainment with the Harlem Wizards basketball team. Tickets are on sale at http://www.harlemwizards.com/schedule-tickets  
General Admission is $15 per ticket, $20 for Reserved Seating tickets, and $30 for Courtside Plus tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door, as available. Good afternoon.  I hope that your week has gone well. CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS Thank you and congratulations to Aaron Lehde, Betsy Cytron, Michael Faris, Scott Harris, Katie Solomon and members of the LMS 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Bands for their truly wonderful performances this past Wednesday evening to a packed house at the LHWHS Performing Arts Center.  It was a truly wonderful way to end the day.  The kids (and teachers) did a fantastic job.   Administrative Professionals Day was this past Wednesday.  I cannot adequately express how valuable our office staff members are to us.  They are: Nancy Edwards, Principal’s Secretary Peggy Breidenbach, Registrar Carol Stephens, Guidance Secretary Danna Anderson, Receptionist Mary LoBosco, Assistant Principals’ Secretary Ann Mohrmann, Library Aide Kelly Shevitz, Clinic Aide Thank you, as well, to the LMSPA which allowed me to take them to lunch on their day. TJs Tidbits Greetings LMS Families, Last week was focused in many ways on Character Education. On Monday, Dr. Jahnke joined us after school during our Faculty Meeting and surprised us with cake to celebrate our State School of Character Recognition. We had our State School of Character Banner presented to us by Character Plus representative, Nicole Diehl, on Tuesday in a lovely ceremony that included district and LMS admin, counselors, Character Ed Committee reps, student leaders and members of the LMSPA. At the end of of the ceremony, student volunteers shared what Character Ed. means to them and what they love most about LMS. They wowed us all with their comments and spoke so eloquently sharing strengths and growth areas. One student summed it up perfectly, saying something along the lines of "We are not perfect, as there is no way we could be, but we certainly work hard and continue to get better and better each day…” Our National School of C
