NEW ITEMS

Turkey Trot
This week's Turkey Trot will be held Tuesday during periods 6-8.  Students and staff will gather on the upper field, across from the Admin Center.  Please encourage your child to dress appropriately for running and for the weather.  Students and staff will have the option of running the one-mile course or walking around the front of the school and then cheering on the runners as they finish.
Race Order:
6th grade - 7th period; 1:36 - 2:21 pm
7th grade - 8th period; 2:25 - 3:10 pm
8th grade - 6th period; 12:47 - 1:32 pm
If you line up in the afternoon for carpool in our back lot, please be aware that we will have students in this area during period 8.

Canned Food Drive
Our yearly Canned Food Drive, with items and proceeds going to support Gateway 180, will occur November 17 through December 2.  Students may turn in food items in the LMS Lobby before school.

Morning Student Drop Off
For safety reasons, please refrain from:
  • Stopping on Conway Road to let your student out.
  • Stopping in our upper parking lot, next to parked cars, to let your student out.

UPDATED/CORRECTED ITEMS

Ski Trip Update
Parents, we had a great turnout for our LMS Ski/board club this year.  We have a total of 470 students who will be participating.  If you wanted your child to be a part of the club but missed the registration, you can still purchase the discounted Friday passes (until the end of November), however you will have to transport your child to and from Hidden Valley.
Students who ordered a long sleeve T-shirt or Hoodie and did not receive it at that time will probably be receiving it right after Thanksgiving break.  It is possible for them to come in before, but doubtful.  They will be distributed in the lunchroom during your child's lunch shift.
If you have any questions about our LMS Ski Club, please email Mark Biernbaum at mbiernbaum@ladueschools.net

REPEATED ITEMS

Winter Sports
The LMS 8th grade sports program will be starting winter sports, basketball for boys and girls, in December.  The program is free, no-cut, and all play.  Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:15 and most students may take the late bus home.  Games are after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays and students do need a ride home following the games.  In order to participate in the program, students need to sign up during lunch on November 21, turn in release forms, including a physical dated after February 1, 2016, and come to practice on December 6.  Students who participated in fall sports do not need to turn a new set of forms in.  If you need a copy of the forms, they can be picked up from the welcome center or can be found on the LMS website under the activities-8th grade sports tabs.

Diversity Cadre Courageous Dialogue #2
The LMS Diversity Cadre will host its second Courageous Dialogue for parents on Tuesday, December 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the LMS cafeteria.  PLEASE NOTE: this is a change from the original date November 30 (see attached flyer to the Blackboard Connect email). A change was made to avoid conflicting with the district's screening of the documentary "Screenagers."  Please join us as we continue our dialogue about differences and what we can do to be more accepting and understanding of each other's differences. This adult only event is open to all.  We hope you join us!  If you plan to attend, please RSVP no later than December 2nd by emailing Mary LoBosco at mlobosco@ladueschools.net or calling 314-983-5512.
Prior to attending, please click on the following link, read the article and watch the embedded video clip, as it will be used as a starting point for discussion.
