August 14, 2013
Good
evening.
I hesitated sending this out, anticipating
that at least a few of you had grown weary of hearing from me so often. I will be sending out a summary of the first
week of school, as planned, either Friday afternoon or over the weekend.
This Afternoon
I want to offer my sincerest apologies for
the delays and traffic issues you may have experienced this afternoon at
dismissal. All of our plans could not
anticipate our buses being late from their Tier 1 runs. Cars arriving on our campus for student pick
up had to be stacked in our back lot in multiple lines. Katie and Jason did their best in a very
challenging situation.
In a perfect world, with all buses
arriving on time, we are able to get student bus riders loaded and buses out of
the Circle Drive within a maximum of 10 minutes after dismissal. This should be near 3:15 p.m. Until we get the bus route issues ironed out,
I would suggest (if your schedules allow) that you arrive for car pick up at
3:30 p.m. at the earliest. This may cut
down on the number of cars in the back lot and wait time until we get on our
game. Again, I am very sorry.
This Morning
A big thank you to everyone who elected to
make a right-hand turn out of our lot onto Clayton Road this morning. This helped a great deal. If we can get more cars/drivers to do so,
this will improve even more. Thank you,
as well, for not hitting the pudgy guy in the stupid-looking vest.
If I can ask another favor, please try to
keep from dropping your students off in the morning before 7:40 a.m. Due to the change in our daily schedule, we
have had to adjust the work schedule of our Teacher Aides/Assistants and the
Lobby is not supervised until 7:40 a.m.
I know I communicated a time of 7:30 a.m. in earlier communications –
this was my mistake.
The School Day
I think we experienced a very good opening
day. LMS has a great teaching, office
and support staff. They came through
today as expected. I saw smiles on your
children’s faces throughout the day. It
was great to see them and share in the energy of the first day of school. I was able to pop in to every classroom this
morning during period 1 for a very quick “Good Morning” and was also able to be
in all lunch shifts.
Please keep in mind the posted calendar
events for the rest of this week (in RED).
Thanks
for your time and thanks for sending your kids to us,
Greg
