After School Activities Quarter 1

Good afternoon, everyone.

     After School Activities for Quarter 1 have just been posted to the LMS website. 

     If you do a search for Ladue Middle School and get the page with a picture of the Cafeteria and administrators, please click on the “Visit School Website” button above my head. 

     Once on the school website, click the “Activities” tab across the top (fourth from left).  A drop down menu will then provide you with choices.  Just select “After School Activities.”  You then should be provided with four options, listed by Quarter.  I hope that “Quarter 1” is displayed in blue.  If so, you should then be able to click on that for a full listing for the dates August 27 through the end of this quarter.

     I was about to delete the Meet The Teacher Night information sent out previously, but thought I would keep it in case you haven’t seen it yet.  If you have, then ignore everything from this point on.

Meet The Teacher Night

     This evening is for you, the parents, and us to do a brief meet and greet and share some general information about your child’s classes.  Due to the limited timeline for tomorrow evening, more extensive conversations about your child’s unique needs, abilities and progress are better served either through other communications or meetings, and/or at Parent Teacher Conferences in late October.

     What follows is a schedule for tomorrow evening.  This flyer should have arrived at your homes last Friday afternoon through backpack mail.
Plan to arrive early, as parking is limited.  Shuttle Service is recommended and provided from Ladue Chapel (9450 Clayton Road, St. Louis, MO 63124) to the circle drive from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.  Look for a blue canopy and yellow sign on the south end of the parking lot at Ladue Chapel indicating the pick-up point.  The drop-off and pick-up location at LMS will be the flagpole in front of the building.

Your child will be given a copy of their schedule to bring home on Tuesday, August 20.  Please bring this schedule with you.  There will also be copies of schedules available in the lobby or by the gym when you arrive.

6:30 pm – Welcome from Administration, Counselors, Parent Association, & Dad’s Club
Parents will report directly to your child’s first period at 6:55pm.  See specific grade level schedules below and refer to your child’s schedule for specific class period information.

     As mentioned, copies of students’ schedules have been distributed to students this afternoon to deliver home.  Please ask them for the schedule when they arrive home.  We will have extra copies of schedules in both the Welcome Center and the Gym entrance, but having this in hand will save you some time standing in line.  At the conclusion of the parent meeting in the Gym, we will dismiss you by grade level to begin following your student’s schedule.

     At the risk of being repetitive, parking on campus is a challenge.  I would take advantage of the shuttle being offered from Ladue Chapel if you can.  Please also be aware that we need to keep our handicapped cutouts open on the Circle Drive.  They will be designated by the green cones.  In order for the shuttle buses to exit the Circle Drive, we will also need to keep a portion of the Conway Road exit free from parking as well.  This area will be marked with orange cones.  If you park in the back parking lot, or next to the Admin Center, be aware that the doors on the back of the Gym will be unlocked for you to enter.  

     I hope that I haven’t forgotten anything.  If so, I will send a follow up.  We look forward to seeing you tomorrow evening, if you can make it.

Good afternoon.  I hope that your week has gone well. CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS Thank you and congratulations to Aaron Lehde, Betsy Cytron, Michael Faris, Scott Harris, Katie Solomon and members of the LMS 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Bands for their truly wonderful performances this past Wednesday evening to a packed house at the LHWHS Performing Arts Center.  It was a truly wonderful way to end the day.  The kids (and teachers) did a fantastic job.   Administrative Professionals Day was this past Wednesday.  I cannot adequately express how valuable our office staff members are to us.  They are: Nancy Edwards, Principal’s Secretary Peggy Breidenbach, Registrar Carol Stephens, Guidance Secretary Danna Anderson, Receptionist Mary LoBosco, Assistant Principals’ Secretary Ann Mohrmann, Library Aide Kelly Shevitz, Clinic Aide Thank you, as well, to the LMSPA which allowed me to take them to lunch on their day. Good afternoon.  I hope that your week has gone well so far.   All indications point to MAP testing having gone pretty well for the 6th and 7th graders this week.  Although many hands contribute to the success of school-wide, grade level testing, I would like to share special thanks to the work put in by Associate Principal Dr. Tiffany Taylor-Johnson, Counselor Janey Worthington, Technology Coach Karl Kindt, and Teaching Assistant Katie Rahmoeller.  We should wrap up testing for 8th grade next week, with make up exams to follow.   CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS Congratulations to the LMS Science Olympiad team.  This past Saturday, they took first place at the state finals in Fulton, MO with a commanding lead over the second place team (Pembroke Hill from Kansas City).  Thirty-two of the top teams from the state were present and Ladue took top five in 20 of the 22 events.  The team will be moving on to the national finals at University of W...

Good afternoon, everyone.   I hope that your week has gone well. CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS Congratulations to LMS Literacy Coach, Erika Niles.   Erika was recently selected by the LMS Administrators and Dr. Jennifer Allen (Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum/Instruction) to receive an Excellence In Education recognition for 2015-2016.   In addition to her duties as Literacy Coach, Erika also makes a positive impact on our building and district through her work on the LMS Problem Solving Team, as the LMS Representative on the district New Teacher committee, as a member of the LMS Professional Development committee, as a member of the district Curriculum and Instruction committee, as a LMS Representative on the district RTI Planning Committee, and as a Mentor to an LMS student.   Erika will be honored at the October 26 Ladue Board of Education meeting.     CALENDAR ITEMS Monday, 9/21 7 th Grade Trip Thursday, 9/24 Fundraiser ...
